Only Two Books this Week

Anything illustrated by Eloise Wilkins I cannot pass up. This one set me back 60 cents.
Although, when WE sing "Rock-a-bye Baby" I CATCH the baby.
What a strange thing, a lullaby where a baby gets blown out of a tree.
These are the things that would keep a kid up all night.

The homey feel of Thyra Ferre' Bjorn books appeal to me. There are now nine in my collection. Two are duplicates. This is one I did not have! I squealed like a pig when I saw it. And for a quarter.
Ahhh. Thrift shopping.

A Dollars Worth of Entertainment

Does everyone but ME know about this book?
It is THE book that I always hoped would be available in anthology form, and LOOK! It is!
It contains writings by a very large number of well known authors and THEIR choice of what was their favorite of their writings (how many times can one person use the work 'their' in one short sentence?).
Sadly, Theodore Dreiser's choice was NOT "The Old Neighborhood", but I guess he is entitled to be wrong.
And, Thornton Wilder's was NOT "The Angel That Troubled the Waters", so I shall probably never get to actually read it.
But, oh well. This will keep me entertained for quite some time, I believe.
Seriously. Did YOU know about this, and just weren't telling me?

Never Too Many Books

Last Saturday I found several great books! I'm presently reading "Mary Chesnut's Civil War" again. This particular book had more to it than the edition I read first. I'm enjoying it very much.

I also found several children's books and then these two hardcover music books. I've attempted to read them, but it would require more concentration than I'm capable of presently to make it all the way through. So, I am just admiring them as they lean against my piano.

Of Books and Book Holders

I found this wonderful quote in a book I found at my favorite thrift store today. I LOVE books like this.

And the book holder! It looks like something from the '70's. I still haven't figured out where I will put it, but it just has such an honest look to it, does it not?

Saturday Thrifting

Today was a good day for thrift shopping. I found the two little rockers and the purse basket for a dollar each.
I couldn't wait for 1/2 price Wednesday for these books! Two are by Alexandra Stoddard; Making Choices and Daring to Be Yourself. The other is by Tracey McBride; Frugal Luxuries. I hope to dive into all three of these tonight!
