Fabulous Find for Famke

Always happy to find Polly Flinders at a thrift store!
I'm hoping it will fit Famke.
I did have to add a small patch, but it doesn't seem to show.
THIS is what comes to mind when I think of the dresses of my childhood.
My mom was a BIG Polly Flinder's fan.
She would have been delighted with my find!
Somehow, I'm not expecting the same reaction from Famke. But one never knows, she may pronounce it "CUTE!"

Girl with Basket of Fish

You will just have to trust me when I say that this is a REALLY great picture!
Although I cannot TAKE a good picture of it. The weird looking spot on her apron is a reflection of what is outside my dining room window.
Anyway...
I first noticed the picture last week, and when we went back yesterday is was 40% off!
The gift for a 31st anniversary IS a very nice print, isn't it?
Ja.

Sew Wrights

This lovely unopened package of rick rack I bought just because I LOVE the color.
And, it was 25 cents.
Unlike the post below, I did not buy it because the man in the picture resembles anyone I know.

Kinder lernen Deutsch

I found this really cool book while shopping yesterday. I suppose that if I ever want to speak German it would be a good place to start. But, it was the illustrations that drew me in. And that boy on the cover? He looks like THGGM did at about the time we started dating.
Last night I started working my way through the book. So far, all I've mastered is "Ja".

What Treasures My Basement Harbors

In the big box waaaay over in the corner of the basement I found the pink wicker cradle I bought for Famke before she was born.
Since she is now twenty-one months old and soon to become a BIG sister, I'm glad I found it now.
Her little dollies are already enjoying it. They are wearing new clothes that I found for them in the corner doll booth at the antique/thrift store.
Thrifting even keeps the dolls happy. Which is a good thing, as unhappy dolls are just plain creepy.

Pipe Smoking Dutch Boy

I have a rather nice collection of this sort of plaque.
My favorite are the Dutch ones.
Today I found four.
This makes me happy, as I haven't seen any in a very long time.
My guess is that since it is Tulip Time in Holland, shop owners were putting all of their Dutch stuff front and center.
I find it weird that I like this one.
It's rather sick, really. A little boy smoking a pipe.

My On Line Memory

I found this great Tasha Tudor book for two dollars today.
Can't wait to sit down with it and enjoy every detail.
I also found a bag of green handled cookie cutters. Love those. They will look nice in the wooden bowl of red and green handled cookie cutters at Christmas time.
Really, truly, the main reason I keep this blog is so that I can look back through it and wonder.., 'Hey, where DID I put that?'

I've Always Wanted One of These Too

So, now if someone calls me and asks if I have Prince Albert in a can, I can answer,
"YES"!

Thrifty Stamping

These stamps are from the 80's.
I always wanted them.
Can't wait to start marking up all my books!
And, they look so well used they will match every other well loved rubber stamp that I own.
