I Found This!

I've been looking for some vintage-y Christmas stuff for my kitchen. I found this yesterday. PERFECT!
I think I'll be using it as a vase since I only have one.

I'm Sticking to My Budget

Twenty-five cents for an 'occupied Japan' rooster shaker.

Someone had obviously gotten rid of a rooster collection.

I found just two that I liked, and this one proved to be the most photogenic.

Its All About the Colors

This chicken with the red measuring spoons (a very unusual place for spoons one would think) was just too cute for me to pass up. And, it was cheap, just like me. I am also a chicken.

Someday, I do believe I shall actually get the wallpaper off of my kitchen walls and get ALL of it painted a lovely shade of 'shortbread'.

And, when that day comes, I think this chicken will look nice in there.

Oh, and the one in the picture also.

Do These Not Scream "Grandma"?

They do. They scream grandma.

My grandchildren do not call me 'beppe' for nothing.

The era of this house lends itself so well to vintage thrifty finds.

Maybe it's just because when we first came through it, the kitchen was filled with Delft.

THGGM also did well thrift shopping today.

He found two old metal-framed oriental pictures. They are lovely and will find a place of honor in our basement, which he is presently painting. He also found three Ralph Lauren shirts - they were buy one get two free. We threw our budget to the wind today, as we had Christmas money to spend.

More of my purchases appear in the posts below. It was a good day for thrifting.

Vintage Toy Find

I've yet to go to a mall this holiday season. I DO have to pick up a couple of gifts sometime before Christmas, but Saturday was not the day for that.

Two stores were all I could handle. One was Mynard's which had Christmas decor for 50% off.

The other was my favorite Thrift Store, where I found this Fisher Price Little Snoopy from 1965.

It cost one dollar.

I've pulled him through the house a few times already, but I think THGGM is questioning my sanity more and more each time I return from thrift shopping.

Anyway, I think he's cute. He has a charming 'squeaker' which still works (little snoopy, that is).
