Twenty-five Cent Saucers

The thrift shopping hasn't been the greatest for me lately.  Not that I'm putting a great deal of effort into it.  But I was thrilled to find eight Johnson Brother's Snowhite Regency saucers for 25 cents a piece.  My plan is to make them into cupcake stands.  I've got at least eight glass candle sticks I can glue them to.  And, they will match my china!

Somebody Made This

I found this cross-stitched piece for THREE DOLLARS at the thrift store.  Somebody made this for somebody and that somebody gave it away!  It's very nicely stitched, and must have taken a very long time to do.  While I still have nap-taking grand kids I will use it to cover them.  

Never Too Many Pots

Over the weekend we made a stop at our favorite antique places in Spring Lake.  One of them has very high quality antiques and prices to match.  Of course it was there that I found something that I wanted.  A small chamber pot.  I was shocked that the price was so low.  Maybe there is no longer a run on ironstone chamber pots?  Anyway.., I was able to convince THGGM that having a small ironstone chamber pot could only increase the value of our house, what with having another potty and all.  He found the Autumn Cottage magazine.  I'd wanted it when it came out, but thought the 10 dollar price a bit steep as it didn't up the value of our house or anything.  Usually magazines in antique stores cost about a dollar, which seems reasonable to me.  So the woman at the desk rang up the adorable small ironstone chamber pot, wrapped it, put it in a bag, and stuck in the magazine.  THGGM looked at her and said, "You forgot to charge me for the magazine."  Her reply was, "I get so many magazines that I just bring them here when I'm done and give them away."  Well now.  That adorable small ironstone chamber pot with the 'Royal Ironstone' stamp on the bottom of it just became MUCH better priced!

So Much Fun

This purchase was made a few months ago. I put it away in the game closet and forgot about it. Friday I brought it out and had Jonge set about to see if all of the pieces were present and accounted for. They were! We did not play the 'game' but he did use the cards to create some amazing things! I'm hoping he realizes that I like playing with game pieces more than I like playing games.

Seriously, the boy played with this the entire afternoon. All this fun for $2.00.

Plaque Find

Friday and Saturday THGGM and I went to so many thrift/antique shops that I cannot even remember where I picked this up.

But I LOVE it.

So much so that I've spent a good part of this morning trying to get a great picture of it.

I'll just have to settle for 'okay'.

Tommy Hilfiger Shirt

Found a very nice Tommy Hilfiger shirt for Jonge.

And, a cute little crib quilt for the babies.

It also came with a bumper, but I think I just may alter that into something else. Or, maybe next winter I will start a new trend in scarves!

Sigh...

What can I say?

I just LOVE these little plaques!

Soon I'll be putting away my Christmas decor, but leaving up the 'wintery' stuff.

These just look like little Valentine's to me.

I wanted them badly, but could not justify it.

THGGM went back and got them for me.

I don't know why. I haven't been all that good lately.

How Could I Resist?

That girl is READING. And, she has a duckling. Not to mention her being part of a pair.

And they were part of a booth offering 50% off.

So, together they came to $2.50.

I used to collect these "Made in Japan" thingies way back in high school. Actually, I don't think I collected them, I just confiscated my mom's collection and set them around my bedroom.

Now.., where to put them...

Fun Find

See the cute Cute CUTE cup and saucer on the left?

I found it this weekend while digging around in antique mall booths.

LOVE it's very small size, and how it is also Johnson Brother's Regency.

Look what I found tonight! THGGM dropped me off at a thrift store while he ran some errands. This gave me time to move at more of a browsers pace than our usual casing of the joint.

I found a wooden tree puzzle, eight jello molds (see below), two chicken buttons, a pair of pants for Kado, two pieces of white felt and this Boutonniere serving bowl.

Wow. A Boutonniere serving bowl. I was THRILLED.

It was seventy nine cents.

Can you believe it?

This puzzle caught my eye. So, I bought it.

It did require the help of THGGM to get it together.

I've never claimed to be good at puzzles. They ARE called puzzles for a reason.

Don't tell ANYONE, but I didn't even know what it was until I got it home.

Buzzy Bee

Today I found a few fun things. Some of them are too weird to photograph. Or, so I've been told.

I bought a few dozen old diaper pins. I've NO idea why. My diaper-wearing grandchildren wear disposable diapers. Another purchase was several feet of an aqua silky ribbon. Can't explain it. Also, two luncheon size plates to add to my Yorktown Phaltzgraff collection. Because I had no plates that size. This seemed totally reasonable to me, but caused THGGM to ask why we needed them. NEED? Who said anything about need?

But the Fisher Price Buzzy Bee?!

I bought him because he is just too too cute!

I'll need only to add a string. And a child. Yes. This will be fun!

Treasure Hunting Saturday

No REALLY fantastic finds today, just a few GOOD ones.

Like, all the embroidery hoops for less than a dollar.

Beautiful pink ribbon, seven thimbles, and two calligraphy pens with nibs. LOTS of nibs.

A painted guest towel, two crocheted collars (these work nice on lamp shades or as doilies around a lamp base) and a February 1994 Victoria Magazine.

Color me pleased!

Cheap Art

Found this teeny tiny Van Gogh in a plaster frame for 69 cents. Like the print, like the frame, like the artist, like the price!

Three Wigs

These were a fun find!

Especially since my oldest grandson took a scissors to his sisters hair.

She will have choices now!

The wig on the left is real human hair.

The one on the right is really cute.

The wig in the center is a great color.

Of course, I cannot wear them, as I have a really fat head. But, it matches the rest of me so I really shouldn't be surprised by that.

I just LOVE finding cool stuff like this! More treasure for the dress-up box.

Because I Like Them

These two little angels were forty nine cents. At that price, I felt as if I owed them a home.

Lenox Santa

Found this Santa at the thrift store tonight. I wasn't really looking for anything, just browsing. He is stamped Lenox. I paid twenty five cents for him.

Seven Pink Candle-holding Girls

I remember the thrill I got when I found the little blue candle-holder boy!

Seriously, it does not take a lot to thrill me.

So, one can imagine my delight when I found SEVEN of the pink candle-holding girls at the antique mall in Lake Odessa!

VERY delighted. These girls even came with pink plain candle holders too. Wow. Imagine that.

Anyway.., they were also an additional 35% off the already remarkably good price.

They're just too too cute! Now, who has the next birthday, I wonder?

Thrifty Decorating

When we bought this house two years ago I knew that the pink bathroom would remain.

So, I made the decision to LOVE the pink tile, the pink floor, the pink toilet, the pink tub and the pink sink.

And, two years later, I still do.

I think that might be the most thrifty way to live.

Enjoying what you have and making the best of it!

Everything in this picture except for that little china plate hanging on the wall is either thrifted, repurposed or free.

The little china plate THGGM and I bought on our honeymoon in Macinac City over 31 years ago.

And, now I know that color of the tiles.
