Vintage Figurine

I bought her.

She is very homely, yet sweet looking.

And the price was right.

I'm not finding many 'Occupied Japan' pieces any more.

And especially not for $1.50.

I've Been Wanting One of These!

Found a wall pocket today. I used to have one, but got rid of it two moves ago.

This one was a dollar or less - I forget - but a good price!

Now.., I'm not sure exactly where I'm going to put it, but where ever it ends up, it will look GREAT. Well. At least I will thinks so.

The blue place mats were only 25 cents each. They are the perfect color for my kitchen.

Thrifting But Not Shopping

Since I haven't been out thrift shopping since the beginning of Lent, I've been working HARD to use what I already have. As I've mentioned numerous times before, that isn't quite so difficult when one has much to work with.

So, that's what I've been doing.

Working with what I already have.

On a lovely craft blog I saw knitting needle flowers made with simple gathered circles of fabric (note to self. once you remember what those simple gathered circles are called, please edit this to include the proper name for them.)

Well. I do not knit but remembered that SOMEWHERE I had trash picked a bunch of knitting needles. The most amazing thing is that I actually found them!

And, a few years back I thrifted a dozen crocheted coasters.

I'm always thrifting buttons and pompoms.

Can't seem to pass up pretty salt shakers either.

The fabric and even the needle - thrifted.

Put it all together, and what have you?

A kinda/sorta bouquet.

For Famke

For fifty cents I found a Ballerina card game.

One card is missing, and since I know how hard it is to play without a full deck, we will find our own way to use them!

I do have two of those drawing figure dolls (somewhere) so maybe we shall put them to the task first, and then try it ourselves.

I LOVE the plastic cars. I already have a car and a truck. Rather indestructible - made in Sweden.

The beads look like they would make excellent stringing beads for some great necklaces. And, when that fun has worn off, beads glued to the bottom of a wooden box give the box a bit more presence.

Pretty!

I've been collecting cookie cutters for years now.

My favorites are the red and green wooden handled kind.

Usually I keep them in a wooden or yellow ware bowl.

But today I noticed a large mason jar and just shoved them into that.

Suddenly, I had what looked to me like a lovely Christmas decoration.

Since most of them have been picked up at thrift stores, I've not paid much for them.

I cannot remember the last time I've made cut-out cookies with them, but I have crafted a few felt pins.

The Bride and Groom

I found some time today to hit two thrift shops.

Besides a lot of cute kid stuff, this was my favorite find!

Well, one of them.

Whatever I find is my favorite.

I'm weird like that.

There will be a wedding in our family in October.

This will remind me.

Like I'd ever forget that.

Antique Store Find

LOVE the charming picture on this tray!

THGGM found it at an antique mall in Elk Rapids, MI.

@$2.00. They had many unique finds in that price range, which made me a happy girl.

I was on a hunt for a set of primary color tulip juice glasses from a by-gone era. No luck with that. But the hunt turned up many interesting things.

Four Little Finds

Just a few interesting pieces of dishware today. I thought the top bowl was lovely, the second bowl, although plastic, is charming due to it's having the alphabet on it, the third is a pattern I am adding to piece by 15 cent piece, and the last one? Well. That is the pattern of my 'everyday' dishes. I love that shade of blue. Always have. And, since it seems like nobody else likes this pattern anymore, I'm able to pick up LOTS of pieces of that for cheap. I might have to go back. THGGM told me that the dinner size plates were only 50 cents. I'll have to think about that.

Non-vintage Baby

There isn't anything vintage about these baby items. I found them at the thrift store yesterday.

Two handmade burp clothes and a Disney brand receiving blanket.

The burp clothes make easy to handle blankets for Famke's dollies and can be called into play in June when her new sibling makes an appearance.

And, I cannot imagine not having a large stack of receiving blankets on hand. They are wonderful for just about anything having to do with small children and dolls. Smalls stains or holes? Just cut around them to make soft toys or bibs.
