Just ONE More

Yesterday I found another spice jar to add to my collection.
I really like the three matching ones on the top shelf, but since it is highly unlikely to find a deal like that again, I'm perfectly happy to be looking for spice jars that do NOT match.
So I bought the one on the middle shelf and to the far right.
Cloves.  I do love cloves.

A Few Blue Things for My Blue Things Shelf

As unbelievable as it seems, I HAVE gotten rid of some of my collection of blue dishes.

Since I don't have a lot of room for anything more, I'm a bit more picky.

Recently I found the 'pepper' spice jar that is now on the center shelf.  This was at an antique mall and the price was very good.  After I bought it I found a bunch of similar spice jars for three times as much, so I think I did pretty good!

I also found a small tea pot with a small cup and saucer.

Of course, I shall be tweaking this shelf forever.

Blue Dutch Scene

This cute little container was at a local thrift store.  Since I cannot resist a Dutch scene I was drawn to it.  Even more so when I opened the lid to find it had been used as a little sewing box.  I shall also use it as a little sewing box.  Because I can never find one when I need it.

Perfect Plates

Two eight inch plates.  I admit, I squealed when I saw these.  Although if you must know, I squeal silently so as not to disturb the other shoppers.

Cute Sevres Plate

Last week THGGM had the week off.  We spent some time thrift shopping
and antiquing along the shores of Lake Michigan.  And look what I
found!  A Sevres plate!

See?  It says Sevres right on the bottom,
just like the mug I bought in May.

The picture on the mug is much clearer.

On the plate I just purchased the little Dutch girl looks as
if she might be a bit sick to her stomach.  Oh, well.  I love
her just the same!

Salt and Pepper

So many times I've passed on this set of salt and pepper shakers. My first pair I turned into tassels. Not sure yet if I shall do that again. Aren't they just the cutest? COULD it be possible to have too many of these? And just how many would too many be?

My Collection Grows!

Saturday was beautiful, especially for the very last day of winter. So THGGM and I took a ride to one of our favorite antique malls, between Holland and Grand Haven.

All I found was another one of these little houses. Since I don't carry around a picture of the ones I already have, I was happy to come home and discover that it is one I don't have.

And at a new-to-us thrift store I found the small windmill tile. For a quarter. I found a bunch of other things, but the weather is murky today and not at all conducive to taking pictures indoors.

More Treasure

Last week we took a trip to Wisconsin. Here are just a few of the things I found along the way.

I find it impossible to pass up a cute Dutch boy. So this one came home with me, along with the living one I found thirty-some years ago.

The potholders each have half of a snap on the back. Wish I had whatever it was they attached to!

Simply LOVE the salt box,

and added another KLM house to my collection!

We had a lovely time antique/thrift shopping. As soon as we arrived home, I put things 'away', which means I cannot remember everything I found.

All the more fun for me, as I shall be just as excited when I remember that I bought them as I was when I bought them in the first place!

Ah, such fun it is to be aged.

Truly Cannot Say

These are Dutch, crochet, and come as a hanging pair. The perfect trifecta!

Other than that, I have no idea why I bought them.

Oh! I Am SOOO Excited!

Not so much for the wooden shoe planter, although I do like it very much. And, I usually find these in the Holland area antique venues for between four - twelve dollars, which seems outrageous to me. This one was 50 cents at the local thrift store. They sell empty apple sauce containers for that much, so obviously they have yet to find the value in an old wooden shoe planter. 50 cents. No kidding.

But, the find I am excited about is the book "The Primitive", written by a relative of THGGM. He also wrote under the pen name of Fredrick Manfred. I like this one with the actual family name on it.

Not that we knew Feike Feikema at all, but we do have a picture of him standing next to THGGM's grandpa in the backyard of the house we lived in for twelve years. I think that's special.

Yes. Yes I do.

A Pair of Dutch Folk

This pair of Dutch folk marked 'occupied Japan' called out to me. They weren't the only Dutch folk to call out to me today but they had the best price. I'm all about the best price. I also found two oval embroidery hoops and thought the pair looked rather nice framed by the hoops.

I found the Dutch couple at an antique mall I heard advertised on Antiques Roadshow. It's on Blue Star Highway between Saugatuck and Douglas (closer to Douglas). Nice place. Will be going back.

I Still Color

No matter what I do, I cannot get the font for this blog to enlarge. Sorry for the difficulty in reading such small print.

Anyway, I found this envelope of pictures to color today!

The pages are loose, but otherwise resemble coloring book pages.

I think there are a few that would make nice embroidery transfers.

In that land of 'someday' I intend to try it and see how it works.

Salt and Pepper Shakers

Still wondering if I should use them as salt and pepper shakers, put them in my corner cupboard or turn them into tasseled hangers.

I like them.

Collecting things is fun.

Especially when they are bargain priced.

In Flight Drinks the KLM Way

I've been told that these little bottles are what KLM flights gave their passengers.

This one was still sealed, with the alcohol safe inside.

Found this at the same antique mall where I found my first one.

Looks nice on my Delft shelf.
